scheduled for disconnection, and will even include the address details, with a message that your phone was on voicemail. You must expect them to arrive at your premises in a few hours (2) for disconnection.
overdue and demand immediate payment via eWallet to prevent the disconnection.
Scam Details:
The local authorities have confirmed that this is a scam. The messages are falsely warning about "scheduled disconnections" and asking for payments to stop the process.
Officials stress that the municipality does not request payments through WhatsApp or eWallet services.
City’s Response:
A city spokesperson emphasized that these messages are fraudulent and not affiliated with any municipal practices. An investigation is underway to trace the origin of these messages and apprehend those responsible.

To avoid falling victim to these scams, residents are urged to keep in mind the following:
The city does not contact clients by phone regarding service disconnections.
Official pre-termination notices are sent out at least 14 days after the payment due date has passed.
If payment is not made by the set date, authorized city employees will disconnect services and leave a notice with the payable amount for reconnection.
Prepaid users will have their meters blocked without any prior contact from contractors.
